Francis Brinker, N.D.
Francis
Brinker, N.D., is a 1981 graduate of the National College of Naturopathic
Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
Subsequently, he completed a two-year postgraduate fellowship in general
practice and botanical medicine at NCNM and then taught Botanical Medicine
there. Over
the past decade he has served as an instructor at the Southwest College of
Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Tempe, Arizona.
Dr.
Brinker’s undergraduate degrees include a B.A. in biology from the University
of Kansas as well as a B.Sc. in human biology from Kansas Newman College.
He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
For the past several years Dr. Brinker has been involved both as a preceptor and instructor in botanical medicine for the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. Other contributions, based on his extensive literature research of historic, scientific and medical publications, include roles as the editor of the Eclectic Medical Journal – Reprints vols. 1 & 2, reviewer for the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia monographs, and author of many articles and books. He has served as a consultant for Eclectic Institute, Inc. since the early 1980s.
Several volumes of articles and texts written by Dr. Brinker have been compiled as the Eclectic Dispensatory of Botanical Therapeutics vols. 1 & 2. In addition, his other books published separately by Eclectic Medical Publications include Herb Contraindications and Drug Interactions, Formulas for Healthful Living, and The Toxicology of Botanical Medicines.
